John Young was an exceptional astronaut, cool as a cucumber! Aside from flying in Gemini missions (two), he landed on the Moon, and was in charge of the first Shuttle landing….what a stick and rudder man!
Typically myself (Joel, admin, tea maker etc) and Perrine (the artist!) chat about what we're painting next but, on this occasion, Perrine simply said "I'm painting this!". Her reasons where that the image was very melancholic, beautifully composed, and left the audience guessing as to what John Young was actually thinking about as he sat waiting for launch in the Gemini capsule.
Limited edition prints are also available of this original artwork.
